William Garrett, CFP®, President
Bill Garrett has been providing sound FINANCIAL PLANNING advice and INVESTMENT SERVICES to his clients since 1987. A CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional, Bill is the founder/owner of Garrett Financial, LLC, in Brentwood, TN. Bill specializes in retirement and estate planning and as a Registered Principal of United Planners', personal portfolio management for affluent and high net-worth individuals, successful professionals and business owners. Among these are retirees, inheritors, divorced and widowed individuals. He also helps business by establishing qualified retirement plans and by intergrating orderly business succession strategies with personal estate planning for business owners.
In talking about his philosophy, Bill speaks with sincerity and conviction: “I focus at all times on my clients’ best interests and strive to set the standard for personal service and professional excellence. I help retirees and other individuals preserve and increase their wealth through conservative asset management and tax-advantaged retirement and estate planning that is custom designed for each client’s unique needs. Personal attention is a very important element of my practice.”
Bill is a graduate of Washburn University in Topeka, KS. He also attended Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, MO. As part of an ongoing program to maintain professional excellence he is actively involved in advanced continuing education courses on insurance, estate planning and portfolio management.
Bill has conducted many public and private seminars on financial planning, asset allocation strategies and investing for such groups as the Tennessee Bank Examiners. He has also produced copyrighted seminars being used by other professionals across the country and in adult education courses.
Active in his community, Bill is a member of the Church of Christ, The Brentwood Chamber of Commerce, and the Nashville Chamber of Commerce For two years he served as director and organizer of the “Financial Planning Hotline,” co-sponsored by the Middle Tennessee Chapter of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners and The Tennessean newspaper. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Middle Tennessee chapter of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners, and the Middle TN YMCA Young Latino Achievers. He was a facilitator for the 1996 National Tax Debate hosted by US Congressman Bob Clement. He has also been a source of information to Senator Bob Corker regarding the Federal deficit and its potential long-term impact on America.
Bill has been a regular columnist for Active Times Magazine, a frequent contributing writer for The Nashville Business Journal, and has appeared on local television as a personal finance expert. He also serves as a resource on financial planning information for major newspapers and magazines.
Bill, his wife Julie, and their two daughters, live in Franklin, Tennessee. He enjoys spending time with his family, attending the girls’ school and athletic events, and teaching them how to fish. He is also an avid woodworker.
