1) n. Latin meaning "trust." Refers to a business or person who may act for another with total trust, good faith, and honesty who has the complete confidence and trust of that person. The fiduciary has more knowledge and expertise about the matters being handled and is held to a higher standard of conduct and trust than a stranger or a casual businessperson. Conflicts of interest must be avoided where the fiduciary's interests are not in the best interest of the person who trusts him/her/it. The beneficiary's best interest should be primary even if a fiduciary and beneficiary join together in a business venture. 2) adj. A relationship or situation where someone acts as a fiduciary for another. Fiduciary examples might be: Trustees; attorneys; and a Certified Financial Planner™ who is also Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) or Investment Advisor Representative. Stock brokers, insurance agents or others who call themselves financial planner or financial advisor are usually not fiduciaries.
Trust is vital when working with a financial advisor. Confidentiality, reliability, and objectivity are paramount. Certified Financial Planners™who are Registered Investment Advisors or Investment Advisor Representatives are considered fiduciaries. Bill Garrett has been a Certified Financial Planner™ professional (CFP®) since 1994. As a practicing CFP® practitioner, he adheres to the ethics, continuing education standards, and all elements of the financial planning discipline of the International Board of Certified Financial Planners™. You can feel comfortable knowing that your interests are always the highest priority when Bill makes recommendations.

Investment Philosophy*
Bill believes that an investment should fit the client’s comfort level and understanding. This is determined through personal interview and questionnaires developed to determine how much risk a client’s investments should possess coupled with what investment return the client needs to reach their goals. The investments are designed to coordinate with the client’s personal goals. They are then presented to the client for their approval along with an explanation of the risk and rationale for each investment’s inclusion. Guidelines for how the investments will be selected, the risk level that will be maintained, investments that may be included, and those that will be excluded are explained in a written document call an Investment Policy Statement (IPS). Thereafter, the management of the portfolio must adhere to the IPS.

In keeping with our Mission to provide a high degree of personal service, we have helped our clients set up business entities, trusts, and charitable donations, establish company retirement plans, find appropriate tax advisors, and refinance their mortgages. By taking an active role in facilitating these relationships and coordinate their services for the client we assure those services are congruent with the client’s financial plan. In the process, we save our clients time and the hassle of trying to find the right professional for their needs.
